help me black out my room TODAY

Trying to enjoy new HD player and annoyed that my room is not as dark as I know it could be

I have both a black out blind and curtains that are fully lined - but still light manages to escape at the top and sides of them

Its down more to the design of the window - the blind fits fine but only just covers the glass and the curtains stay close in so light escapes

Would something along the lines of that sticky draft excluder stuff stop the light seeping out the gaps ?
