hi,
right im in the lenghty process of making my front living room a decent modernised space, that includes first and foremost the basics, ive already put some new floor boards down, ripped out the old birck fire place (which looked naff) and done some wiring, nxt up is stripping walls replastering etc..
i have a bay window of sorts where the 50+" TV will stand. But im concerend about outside noise. i live in a terrace house with a front gate and mini path (so not directly onto street) on a fairly quiet street apart from kids who make a fair bit of noise and the occasional loud exhaust but in general the room insulation is poor due to the old wooden thin front door i have which will be replaced by a UPVC double glazed affair to cut noise (and increse safety) about the door is a square piece of glass which will become also double glazed and coloured/frosted.
now this should cut out and noise spill into the room from one side but the main issue i have is the Bay window area it is PVC and has two pains of glass for heat insulation but is not as far as i can tell double glazed or tripple glazed for sound insulation..
I really cant justify pulling the whole thing out as there relativley new and are in good condition a whole new bay window arrangement mite cost upwards of £1500 and thats potencial AV money spent
question: Is it possible to Further glaze the existing panes of glass with another sealed layer of souble glazing with sound insulation ??? my missus would not allow for me nor can i totally justify the expenditure for a full replacement, is it possible to add to the window inside or out ??
Other than that its a really nice room
i may also add the door lead straight into the room without the partition that usually exists hence a bigger room, i really cant stand upto 10 kids shouting up and down the street and i get a bit edgy when i hear things outside even if its nothing, it will wreck my movie/gaming experience
ANY help or thoughts are very welcome
thankyou
