how much should i spend

what would the correct proportions to spend on home cinema equipment?
leaving out stuff like cables and stands what percentage should i look to spend on an amp, speaker system including 4 rears and 2 subs, projector and dvd player.
in hifi they say to spend about the same on the amp as the speakers, but they obviously only have to buy 2 speakers

I would guess there will be differing views on this one!

I think that the on where most of your money would go should be the projector. Starting from fresh, I would probably spend about half my total budget on the projector (unless you want a 2nd hand crt....in which case ignore that!). Then maybe 20% on your amp, and 15 on the dvd player and speakers.

It would be way easier with a rough budget in mind.

hmmmmmm......juicy thought!

I would automatically look at a second hand crt from roland at b4, i suppose maybe £3k. Then tag and rotel 1095, maybe 4k more leaving say £1000 for a dvd player and £2000 for speakers.....

sound reasonable budgeting?

Or £1k for a HCPC which will give you a better source for your nice shiny Barco from Roland

Other than that the budgeting looks fine to me!
