Mounting LCD/Plasma Above fire place? (pic)

As subject, I Would like to have a screen mounted above the new fire place that we have installed. Would it be feasible to do this. We are looking at sizes of about 40" to 50" plasma screen. The main concern, is the heat generated from the fire, will this affect the screen? The screen will be on mounts as its just brick wall behind, not a false chimney.

Some help on this would be great. Also if this is possible how would we go routing any cables etc...

Edit: I'm thinking about mounting the screen on the wall then building a structure around the screen and fire. This would be ideal for cables. I still think heat would be an issue.

Cheers
