Request assurance on my 42" wall mount

Im probably no more than 2 weeks away from wall mounting my 42PV500 and to be honest im not looking forward to it one bit.

I have a Vogel's EFW2001 http://www.vogels.com/detail.asp?ISS...=31&ChildID=80

It looks like this:

Now when I read through these forums and look at all of the home installation pictures everyone seems to have used a different looking mount to the one I have.

If you would take this for example:

you will notice that it secures to the wall and the screen at the four corners(as does every other one I see here). The Vogel's mount I have, secures the mount to the wall via three screws positioned in the centre, one lower and two higher (as shown).

Now this makes me worry that this design is not favoured because of the load that is put on that one small central area of the Vogel's mount? Am I right in thinking that the second wall mount would distribute the weight more efficiently due to the space between each fixing?

Has anyone any Vogel's EFW2001 experience or a greater knowledge of general physics where they can put my mind at ease or advise me to immediately buy a new model.

Yours paranoidly,

Liam

Lol... i was in your shoes about 7 weeks ago.... i purchased my bracket from Alistair at AV-Sales (you'll see the adverts on site) a very sturdy and well made bracket - not sure on the load balancing but i wouldn't think for one minute that if some one designs a plasma bracket they haven't taken that into consideration - esp the one u have got takes a plasma upto 65"!!! thats heavy. If you think your wall/bracket won't take the plasma cos of the 3 securing holes buy a new bracket.... cos if it falls off the wall u'll never stop telling yourself "I knew i should have gotten another bracket"

Physics says that spreading the fixings and therefore the load as far apart as possible will give the best support so I understand your concern when comparing the two. That said I cannot believe that Vogels would be advertising a plasma bracket as able to support up to a 65" plasma if it wasnt engineered to do it.
The main thing is to ensure your fixings are up to the job. I dont know what your instruction manual says but I would want to see at least 75mm screw length into a snug fitting rawl plug. To give absolute peace of mind use anchor bolts or even chemical fixings.

Thanks guys,

I had the same thoughts as you have stated but you know the score - its always nicer to hear it from someone else to put your mind at rest.

I have some anchor bolts already TEDDYBASS, I think they are about 50mm in length(at the moment) and probably about 9/10mm thick. which are too big to go through the holes on the wall part of the bracket, so im going to have to drill them out very slightly, the screws and plugs that came with the thing look quite poor.

TiSwAs - 7 weeks eh? how long does it take the worrying part to go away before the full enjoyment phase kicks in
