Good blinds!

I've got a PX60 arriving next week however I can only mount it opposite the window which gets a lot of sunlight. Please can anyone recommend a good blind for keeping out the sunlight when needed.

The window is approx 6ft x 4ft.

Many Thanks

Darren

Thank you

I've had a look on the Ikea website but can't see it?

Is it something the store will have in rather than being on the website?

Cheers

You'll have to select the colour and size you require!

I can vouch for the Ikea blinds. I expected a mild reduction in light coming through the window (already had venetians in there) but was gobsmacked when I pulled it down for the first time and the room was completely pitch black (and I mean totally dark). The only I would say is if possible fit the blind in front of the window instead of inside it and if fixing the roller to the ceiling make sure you get it as close to the wall as possible or light will 'leak' around the blind.

I've got the vertical Hillarys blinds... crap for blocking light!
Is it worth getting these AS WELL ...???

The verticals are inside the window bay area if you know what I mean (its not a bay),
and these blackout ones can go on the front on the inside wall.
Wandering if it may look odd though!!?

It comes down to the colour of your walls and the colour of the blind you go for I guess. I have very dark brown walls and as the blind is the dark blue you don't even notice it tucked up at the ceiling above the window. If you have light walls I would have thought the white one would be the best match but I can't tell you if that colour blocks the light as well as the dark blue.

We've fitted roller blinds behind wooden venetian blinds; unless they're in use you don't know that they are there.

Silly question probably - I'm going to be painting my screen wall a dark brown and the walls a light ivory colour. I'm really after a dark brown blind and don't think the beige, white or blue blinds would go very well (window is on a side wall which will be the ivory colour) . Do you think one of the white ikea blinds could be dyed? No idea how you'd do it.... Also, I want to put the blind in the window alcove but it's slightly too wide (by a few centimeters) for the 120 wide blind. If I got a 140cm one, can they be cut down to size or am I better off getting a custom made one? (I'd quite like an Ikea blackout blind as I expect they're a lot cheaper than a custom blind would be...)

hi i got one from argos and it came with instructions how to cut it to size. unfortunately i have lost it but i am sure it is pretty straight forward if not a bit fiddly. they are all the same so an ikea one could be cut too. as far as dying one goes i have no idea. i think you are best searching for one thats the right colour. maybe ebay or else get a custom one.

Hi

This looks like an interesting thread. I'll shortly be fitting my pj screen above a bay window. The screen is slightly (ie few cms) wider than the bay. The bay has vertical blinds fitted but i've been thinking of ways to reduce light further. Do you think you could mount one of these ikea blinds directly under the housing for the pj screen (which is deeper). This would mean you would have 2 pull down screens, one slightly higher than the other on the wall but the screen would pull down over the top of the blackout blind.

Good idea?
