Post Help! 1st DIY Wall Hanging of Plasma

I wish to wall mount my Panny PE50 and have already purchased the AV Sales bracket.

My house was built in the 70's and they seem to have placed the wooden vertical studs totally random so that I cannot get a fixing for the bracket.

My current idea is to cut away the plasterboard to a size slightly bigger than the wall bracket and place 2 sheets of plywood in its place to bridge the gap. This would be screwed direct to the solid wall outside using at least 6-8 of something similar to these.

The wall bracket would then be attached to the plywood with 6 coachscrews like these. I think 40mm is enough for these.

Hopefully this would hold the weight ok.

This what I had to do with my Pio 50" and it it still there rock solid. Only thing is that as Pio does not have glass, it is quite light (36Kgs). But I still think you would be OK. Is there no way that you could use solid timber strips instead of the ply wood though?

Probably could but using the plywood cut to the same size as the hole cut in the plasterboard would fill the hole completly, just thinking for insulation purposes?

Hi see what other answers you get as I then replastered over the wooden spars. I just thought they might be stronger than plywood and would not bow. Good luck anyway!

I'd probably cut into the plasterboard, then get some 2x4 and screw two lengths of it across the studs and screw them in. Then cut some plasterboard to fill the hole, then plaster over the gaps. Then you can safely mount the wall bracket through it all into the lengths of 2x4 you installed. Shouldn't be too disruptive, assuming you have painted walls and not wallpaper. :D
