Help on Plasma Wall/Cupboard

Help on Plasma Wall/Cupboard-wall.jpgHelp on Plasma Wall/Cupboard-dscn0296.jpg

I was wondering if anyone can help.
From the picture you'll see I'm making my old double garage into a av room.
The back wall has been blocked up and now I'm having a stud/false wall of around 26cm from the back made. In the centre I'm leaving a void for the mounting of a 50" plasma.
This will be mounied on a stud partition with a clearance between the main brick back wall and the front. This will be used to mount the plasma, the 5cm gap will so that i can bring cables through to behind the plasma.

My problem is that as it was a garage, I have to leave me main electrics/gas stuff in the corner as you can see. So i'm having a tall mdf cupboard made, on the side which then angles at 45deg to the false wall being created. within the angled section of the cupboard, I'm going to hosue my cat5/video distribution and av kit.
My inital questions are ;
1. If I use thick MDF screwed to 2"x2" battens which are then screwed/fixed to the rear wall, is this strong enough for a CHIEF universal flat mount and a Philips PF7230 50". I think the plasma weighs 70KG.

2. I intend to stick allthe av kit - amp/dvd/sky etc behind an mdf door.
Is this possible with regard to remote control operation.
The aim was to have a clean white wall with "rectangle hole" for the plasma and nothing visible.

Has anyone done anything similar... Any help/pointers would be greatful.

Dave.

For the hidden equipment just purchase an IR Extended kit
Sorry can't help on the weight thing for the MDF frame... but looking at it logically if you use thick MDF say 30mm and then ensure that the frame is secured solidly to the wall it should be ok.
probably best to attach bracket before securing MDF to the frame/wall - use nice big washers behind when bolting on teh bracket

Thanks for the answers.

I'll look for the IR extension kit.
