hey guys i want to start a new project soon but need some info , costs ect.... i have a 42 inch plasma tv and have all the wall mounts , i have recently bought a flat and wish to wall mount the plasma but i have a gas fire in the space where i want the tv to be how much does it cost to remove the gas fire i dont know if my back boiler is behind the fire would this matter ? i have some pics here

i see alot of frames being built whats the propose of these oh and the walls in the house are all plaster board so i would need to find beems to hang the wall mount bracket ( or is that the purpose of the frames?)

any help would be great thx , love all your guys work

EDIT: we have Gas central heating and the boiler (tank) is in the kitchen cupbaord so does that mean theres a gd chance the back bioler is behind the fire? we never use the fire it just gettin on my nerves lol

1. If you want to remove the gas fire, you'll have to get a CORGI registered gas fitter (should be listed in yellow pages). Shouldn't cost mega bucks as there's usually an isolation tap for the gas supply close to the fire.

2. If it's only a stud / plasterboard wall, you may need to make a frame to strengthen the wall for the added weight. Should be fairly straightforward, but it all depends whats behind the fire. If there's a boiler behind it there may be heat issues with the plasma. Best to call a plasma installer & make out that you're interested in having him fit the screen. He'll then be able to tell you if it's gonna be a problem

Yep, that's a back boiler alright, be an expensive old job to take it out as you'll have to buy and have fitted a new boiler (you can't just take the fire bit off them....) - budget a couple of grand by the time it's all done and dusted - I'd probably look into mounting the plasma somewhere else or if you have plenty of room building a surround / false wall type thing in front of the fire - you'll have to contact the gas installer anyway about how close you can put this to the boiler....

not great at plans but this is a rough idea for false wall never though of that building a fake wall around the fireplace

Correct, they can't be seperated (at least they shouldn't be as they were never designed to operate in isloation)
