My false wall / chimney breast project

Hi All,

We are in the process of doing up our bedroom and had a 26" LCD to mount on the chimeny breast so though we'd go the whole hog and make a false wall for cabling. The wall is now complete and has been plastered so just need to sort out stuff like skirting, coving, painting etc and then I can hang the tv. Here is a few pics to show the construction etc just in case anyone was thinking of doing anything similar.

A few points about the project...

Trunking....Decided on 75mm square pvc trunking from tlc direct. Big enough to add and remove cabling at a later date.

Wall Entry/Exit...The size of the trunking means its easy to run up to standard size wall sockets so went for dryline wall boxes that could have the whole of the back section removed. Then decided to just use cat5 wall sockets screwed into these boxes.

Heres the pics...will post some more when the room is complete and the tv is mounted.

Managed to get some painting done today (a 50/50 emulsion base coat) and got some skirting board cut to size. Hopefully get the skirting board put on during the week.

I've noticed in the past that some of you guys have put some lighting behind your mounted LCDs for added effect (LEDs possibly?). What are these lights are where are they sourced from?

Looking good mate

I think you'll find that most poeple use the Trettioen LED lighting strips from Ikea...

http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/store...79*15748*16083

...which are available in white, green or blue.

I've just got hold of a set of blue ones but have yet to fit them properly.

Cheers, Lee
