Question Please can someone check my plans and offer advice / help ....

Builders are finally starting work on our house next month. It is being totally refurbished / rewired etc.

The living room will also be a H/C room. So all the wiring can be hidden I need to plan all the cabling / positioning etc and could do with some help. I have tried contacting local companies but none seem interested in helping unless the equipment is bought from them.

Anyone here who is experienced in H/C installations who can help? I will obviously pay you for your time. I am in west london.

The layout of the room is at shown in the plan: http://www.uk-fones.com/plan.jpg

The projector screen will be mounted on the back of the support beam at the bay window so its hidden from view. On the left wall will be a wall mounted plasma or lcd with the av rack underneath. The projector will be ceiling mounted.

The main thing I need help with is the positioning of the projector / screen.
And recommendations on what speaker set up will be the best and where to position the speakers.

Above is the recommended seating distance etc projector central calc gives. Can someone tell me if this is ok for the room based on the above plan and if the screen size is right for the room.

The builders are installing a false ceiling with 12v L/V lights.

1) Should the ceiling mount be fixed to the original ceiling or new false ceiling?

2) How do I work out the exact position of where the ceiling mount needs to go? I will buy the mount now, but i dont have the projector and screen yet and dont really want to purchase them till the works done as it will be at least 4 months till all the work is finished.

3) Can anyone recommend a speaker set up that will be good for both when watching normal tv and using the projector. Ceiling mounted speakers are an option.

Sorry for the long post. I am no expert and really need to make sure everything is correct before the works done. I appreciate all your help / advice.

Thanks.
Nickp.

On the ceiling mount , providing your ceiling has timber joists above it (what the boards are fixed to) measure the locations or sentres of these joists before the builders cover them up and fix to that

i would ask your builder to fix a square piece of ply or something between two of the joists roughly where you pj will be mounted,, this gives you a bit more to play with when you come to mount the pj.

If the projector screen is at the front and the plasma/lcd screen is on the left, wont the speaker positioning be awkward?
