28" LCD TV on a shelf - will it hold!?

Rather than buying a wall mount bracket thing, I was toying with the idea of having my Hitachi 28" LCD just on a shelf above my computer desk, to complete the superscreen set up (will be 3 screens then - sad but true)

Details are:

TV weighs 18.5kg

Shelf brackets are 'rated' to hold up to 25kg

The wall is your normal modern house internal plasterboard affair - ie doesn't feel too strong, which is what is worrying me.

Thoughts?

Unless you can screw into the studs in your internal wall I wouldn't risk it! I think studs are usually 400mm or 600mm apart but you would have to check by knocking on your walls, try a few discreet drill holes (small ones!) to establish where they are if you cant find out...good luck

Don't think i will risk it - is a new house and don't want any accidents and don't want to be drilling holes if I can help it (Mrs 'Wunkley' would disembowel me for a start).
I've a big desk so will have all 3 on that and just slide my smaller lcd out of the way as and when needed I think...
