Hi,

I'm in the process of redecroating the living room and as such I want to hide all the cables under the new carpet and/or beneath the new carpet.

What I'm looking for are wall mounted sockets to make the job all neat and tidy.

Ideally, I want a socket for the Sky Digital connector (small BNC type screw in connector) and speaker connectors, so I can feed the cables to a neat socket attached to the skirting and then plug a short speak er cable from the back of each speaker depending on room placment.

Does that make any sense?

So, can anyone recommend a supplier of such connector boxes?

I can't get my head round what you are trying to do matey? From what i can see it sounds like a long winded way of doing things.

Going by your description , you want to take cables from the back of your av stand / cupboard / unit whatever , down under the carpet and along to say where a speaker is mounted and into one of these boxes you are asking about then speaker cable up into the wall and out where the speaker is and into the back of it? If this is the case then i cant see a need for the box?

I cant say i've heard of these boxes as i'm fairly new to the av scene but i'm sure they exist , what i cant figure out is what you achieve by using them???

Can you clarify and simplify a bit for me?

Hi Jon,

You're part right on what I want to do. I want to conceal the cable from where my Sky comes in (near a window) and run the cable down to the skirting which will be routed on the rear to allow cable to run behind it to a convenient point(s) in the room where I want to mount a socket to allow connection of the cable to run into the back of the SKY Digibox.

I also want to have speaker points placed around the room to allow me to move the AV equipment to different locations without trailing wire all over the place.

So, regarding the speakers you would have cable running behind the skirting that would have speaker connection boxes/terminals to allow short cable run to either speakers or the AV equipment.

Does that make more sense?

Have a look at this link.

You can get wall plates that carry all manner of AV connections, so that all the wiring is hidden in the walls, it does take a bit more work, but is worth it if you don't want wires trailing all over the place.

I did see a site a couple of weeks ago that had some very nice plates, rather than the usual plastic ones, some of which were small enough to go on skirting. I'll see if I can dig it out.

Jon, as Miniholic says, it is all about having neat installations and not necessarily how many times you want to move things around.

I have a 26ft by 12.5ft living room, and it does get boring having the room laid out the same all the time and lifting carpets, etc. everytime a feel like a change is a pain in the proverbial.

Hi there,

You can get wall-mounted speaker connectors at Audio T either off the shelf or ordered in. They use them in the demo rooms, quite effective and it means you dont see the cable running accross the room.
