Soundproofing a Door.

I think my weakest spot in my home cinema for sound leakage will be the door in & out of the room.

However I don't want the look of a heavy fire door and would like to keep the white internal doors we have around the house presently.

So if I used one of the white doors and backed it with Rockwool and screwed a piece of thick MDF to the back of it (which will be the side in the HC) and filled the edging with MDF strips, would this be adequate to soundproof the door?

Any thoughts would be welcome!

it will reduce the transmission a small amount, but it wont soundproof it totally, you would have to have the door 'seal' when it shuts to do it properly, have a look at this link:

I suppose if I coated it with a soundproof panel/foam wouldn't really do the trick either?

if you put fiberglass panels or foam panels it would reduce the noise a little but not much, you would have to use MLV over the door to really make a difference, but then you would still get bleed round the door.
