Here are some photos of the before.

After ones to follow over the space of the next 7-14 days hopefully.

Pictures 1 and 2 are where the recliners shall be going

Picture 3 is where the screen shall be going.

Picture 4 shall see the dvd racks move up towards where the screen shall be.

Picture 5 shows the unfortunate things they call doors that Mrs Chrome says i am not allowed to touch

Hopefully some more pics of the pj and screen going in tomorrow

Well the installer has been so here are some more pics for you.

Big thanks to Tom the installer who has done a fantastic job

oh and this man has more tool boxes than b&q

Still have had no joy with a carpet fitter so it now looks like i shall not be carpetting the walls

More pics tomorrow maybe as i shall have to lift the laminate floor to get it replaced by a carpet.

Why not carpet the walls yourself? Use a thick wallpaper paste to fix it with so that it can come down easily in the future if necessary (use a steamer). Finish the top edge off with some dado rail or similar so that you don't have to worry about the edge so much. If you set the rail up first, you could use it to hold the carpet in place until the glue has gone off.

I Hadn't given wallpaper paste a thought.

Would that be strong enough to hold a carpet on the wall?

It's what's holding my carpets up and they've been there for 4 years now.

The screen wall has 6ft tall carpet that was (wallpaper) glued on in one piece, it's 11ft 6 at it's widest. I think I may have used a couple of nails just to hold it in place while it dried but I can't say for sure.

The side carpets were easier because I stapled through into the wooden purlin, then removed them when it dried. I was going to finish it off with an ornate wooden batten of some sort but never did. There are some pics in my link if you're interested - did you want to carpet the whole wall or just the bottom half?

Thanks, you could have got a better picture of me, but spose that would ave scared the kids !! ,Glad your happy with the installation, made it back to blackpool for about 6:15 not too bad..

Delighted with the install

I have had to resist putting all my kit in the room tonight as i still have to lift the floor and replace it with carpet

but that's a job for tomorrow if we aren't at hospital all day.

nice room, that is a very nice shade of red. may be inclined to redecorate my bedroom/cinema with that colour

The colour on the walls just now is English Fire but that shall be changing very soon.

Hi 'Chrome,

I put the carpet up in one piece.

I think I cut it roughly to shape due to the sloping ceiling, then pasted it before hanging it up. I had already pre-pasted the wall earlier so there was plenty of glue. My other half helped with it of course, otherwise it would have been very tricky.

I then trimmed the edges with a stanley knife (new blade) and used a roller to ensure it was all in contact with the wall. There is some far blacker carpet out there now, but at the time, I couldn't get any that jet black and reasonably priced.

The carpet was a thin rubber backed chargcoal black form Carpet Right - it was about £1.99 a square ft IIRC (about £20), so it didn't cost much. All the grey carpet I used on the side walls cost me just £50 or £60, so I'd carpeted the walls for well under £100. The floor carpet wasn't expensive either, and I laid the underlay, gripper rods myself and fitted it too. It's easier than you think.

Well as i couldn't get anyone to agree to carpet the walls we have decided to paint them

AArgh you wouldn't believe it Mrs Chrome has managed to get brown paint on the black velvet case of the screen

Anyway here are some pics of the paintjob,bearing in mind the original colour scheme was going to be black and red,but owing to there not being a carpet fitter willing to carpet the walls and Mrs Chrome not allowing me to use black paint

we have decided on viennese truffle no1.

Next lot of pics after these should hopefully show the floor lifted and maybe curtains up.

I Have to say at this point it sounds

And as this is an upstairs room i was really pleasantly surprised by how little noise has travelled downstairs

Questions I'm afraid

1) what size screen do you have ? make/model would be great.
2) what projector mount is that?
3) I assume you've got a switch to control the power in your loft for the PJ?

I'm asking as my room is being extended within the next few weeks from 2.8m x 2.8m to 5m x 2.8m so I'm moving up from a fixed screen size (home made MDF) to a 'proper' screen.

How did you work out your distance for the ceiling mount (I'm guessing PJ central is pretty accurate as thats what I'm guestimating it upon atm).

Sorry if these questions appear stupid

Always good to see a room coming to completion - unluckily for me we spent 2 months doing my current room only to decide at the last minute to extend the 2nd floor of the house

1. 6 ft wide Owl homevision 16:9 electric

2. Unicol Gyrolok

3. Power runs through the loft then back down the wall to the left hand side of the screen then plugs into my Belkin Pure Av ups.

4. I have no idea that's why i got someone to install it for me
