a short question :

Is a de-interlacer the same as a Scaler ?
I have a DIY beamer and I'm am currently using a Avermedia TV box 5 to convert the pal signal to vga.

But the picture is a bit blurry. The menu of the lcd is sharp so its not a problem of lenses.

Would it be usefull for me to a buy a scaler to connect after the TVBox ?

No, a deinterlacer will take an interlaced feed, and turn it into a progressive scan.

A scaler on the other hand will change the resolution of the image.

Both the units you list are performing scaling and deinterlacing. Though obviously not as well as some of the expensive units you might see on this board.

I'm pretty sure you won't be able to daisy chain the two devices, they are essentially the same thing - though the Avermedia TV Box has more inputs.

What is the native resolution of the unit you are using? Do you have any mroe technical info on it that would help us to help you?
