Drilling a concrete ceiling

Hello,

Im trying to drill holes in my ceiling for my PJ mount, but i live in a flat and the ceiling is rock solid, im assuming its made from concrete. my cordless drill isnt getting in at all, any ideas what i need to do this?

im assuming the cordless drill isnt creating enough torque? also what kind of drill bit is needed?

TIA

You are right that a cordless drill is not man enough for the job generally.
You need a SDS drill (pneumatic) and masonary bit. These make light work of drilling through masonary and concrete but be warned they are bloody heavy when drilling upwards.

A mains electric drill with hammer action may be more effective. And you need to use a masonry bit. Regular (wood/metal) bits will get hot and blunt in seconds.

....and match the size of the masonry bit to the hole size required by the fixings.

lol all went well guys :D used goggles and what not and the drill bit just sailed through, i used a cordless drill a few months back to try and drill a couple of holes to mount some speaker brackets, it left a mess all over the walls lol the masonery bit did the job though
