Screen surrounds

I'm thinking of building a border for my screen (it's really a nice patch of white wall at present - can't really afford a posh screen), and I am planning on making a timber frame, with black felt streched over it.

My question is: I want to be able to lower and raise the top and bottom parts of the screen respectively for when I watch things in different aspect ratios... any ideas on how to do this relatively easily (and cheaply)?

Ta!!!
