Using network cable for phone extension?

Hi all.....

Is it possible to use cat5e cable as phone line to run an extension? I have loads of network cable but no phone line cable... Is this OK and will there be any side effects?

Many Thanks

No its fine.

Try and use the twisted pair rather than splitting them tho. i.e use the blue/ white blue for the line on pins 2 & 5, then anything else for the bell circuit on pin 3, orange usually.

HTH
