Building Control - HELP!

Hi,

Building Control came for first inspection and said I cannot put floor joist and DPM directly onto existing concrete floor in my attached garage. I either have to dig 6 inches and then put joists on hangers OR I have to put a concrete floor in.

Can anyone let me know if they have had same or found a way around it?

This guy was a trainee and is coming back with his manager - I'm in depression.

When we did our garage conversion I used DPM then Celotex Insulation boards then chipboard flooring floating on top of this.

This made up the difference in floor heights and gave insulation.

Ben,

Was BC ok with this? Do you find the floor cold?

we did pretty much the same with our garage conversion. BC were ok with this and the room has been plenty warm enough

So we just had the senior manager from BC and he said joist and DPM directly on existing concrete will DEFINITELY build up condensation.

So he has said DPM, Celotex, then concrete screed, then flooring - anyone need 6x2 joists or tell me if I can re-use them on the wall instead
