sky hd to 2 rooms, hdmi through wall?

my AV setup in lounge backs onto wall where bedrrom is.

i was thinking of drilling a small hole through wall and buying a hdmi splitter.

however the hdmi head is quite big, and i dont hink you can cut the connector off, feed it through and put on again ?

any advice?

Re: sky hd to 2 rooms, hdmi through wall?

alternatively could i use hdmi to cat5/6?just as these cables are smaller?

i think they are normally just for going long distances?

other option are these devices that stream the signal? any advice on good ones

I'd personally go for the Baluns HDMI to Cat5e/6 connector whatsemebob.
Just cos you dont really want to be cutting the HDMI cable and soldering it back together, especially if its expensive.
But the connector is expensive

Or you could use a circular cutting tool and make a straight cut through the wall to your back room and fill the hole up once the cable has been put through or you could put brush faceplates on to tidy it up

You'll waste money putting a cat 5 extender on it, plus these require they're own power supplies on both ends and the expense of the equipment. Drill a hole big enough for the hdmi lead and then use the brush faceplates which are £5 each from wickes for a single gang to neaten it up.

Whats the wall made of?

Is it a plasterboard/stud wall or a solid brick/stone wall?

I have a similar problem as I have to go through brick and a drywall for the cable to reach the second TV in the bedroom. I don't really want to drill a huge hole just so the HDMI connector will fit through but it seems I have no choice.
Can any one offer any advice?

If you dont wanna drill a hole large enough for a hdmi connector, your only choice is probably the HDMI over Ethernet cable adaptors. Then you can get away with 8mm - 10mm hole in the wall for the ethernet cable. Plan works fine as long as you know how to crimp your own RJ54 ethernet connectors on once the cables through the wall.

HDMI Extender via Network Cable up to 50M - Cable Universe

This is the first link i found, there are other cheaper/more expensive options avaliable.

Thanks. That seems a good idea. Now to search around for better costing as units are not cheap.
