I've just bought myself a Samsung UE40B7000 LED tv and would like to mount it on the wall using the Samsung ultra slim wall mounts model no: WMN1000B.

Althought the metal studs are 400mm apart, the position where I want to mount the tv to the wall would mean I would end up putting the wall mounts into dry lining only. With there being only 2 mounts it obviously doesnt spread the load out very well so the question is, is this safe to do or not? I don't want the thing to fall off the wall!

I have my 32" tv in the bedroom mounted into dry lining only but the wall plate of the bracket has an area of about 400mm x 200mm and 8 hollow wall anchors holding it in place thus spreading the load out much more.

If anyone has any experience of this mounting system on dry liner walls your help would be much appreciated.

p.s. the plasterboard is 15mm thick.

If I am not mistaken you can use the mount directly into the plasterboard.

If you mount it correctly then it'll hold just on plasterboard fine... the TV isn't that heavy.. just use the correct fixings etc and it'll be fine.

However if you don't like that, you could get some ply wood, cut a section out that spans across two of the uprights and chuck a load of screws in to fix the plywood to the wall then mount the samsung mount to the ply wood... it'll add another 10mm+ to the depth though...

I personally would mount it direct to plasterboard.

Cheers for the info guys. I have done some searching on the internet too and apparently a snap toggle (which is supplied with these) can hold up to approx 238lbs/107kg in plasterboard wall.

So, it looks like there shouldn't be any probs mounting it straight into the plasterboard as the tv is 14.8kg without the stand...now all I have to do is work out what height I want it and whether I'm mounting my dvd player (BD-P4600) above or below it!

I fitted one last week and wouldnt like to mount it onto just plasterboard although it did come with some plastic toggle mounts specifically for this.

It was a UE55B7020 55" and definitely was not light-weight!

IIRC you need to mount the two discs between 180mm and 200mm apart.

Really impressed with the TV though and the ease of mounting, you need to think carefully about where your cables exit the wall and where you will be plugging it in as it comes with a fixed mains cable on the back, we had to chop it off and join it behind the Tv.
The mains lead is removable if needed but you have to screw off a cover on the back of the set and the cable is plugged in via a white connector block.

I did wonder about the power cable but I'm making a couple of socket holes in the wall to drop the cables through so they then come out the bottom behind my tv unit for the floating effect.

Seems a bit daft to have to make another one just for the power cable though so I shall have a think about that one. Cheers for the heads up on being able to unplug it though as it looks like its permanently fixed in.

Had mine delivered today but is still in the box till the decorators have finished , how long is the mains cable?
