I would like to connect a rope light directly to my lighting circuit to be controlled by a regular switch on the wall.

Can something like this be connected:
White LED Rope Light 8m for In & Outdoor use & controller - Specification - Lights 4 Fun

Could i cut the plug off and connect it to the ceiling rose (well, i'd change it for a junction box, but you get the idea)?
The thing i'm most confused at is it comes with a 13amp fuse. Not at home at the moment but i think my lighting circuit is 6amps (or is it 16a? Hmm?).
Anyway, remembering GCSE science i though the ampage was wattage/voltage which would make it 20/230 = 0.9a.
So why the 13a fuse?

well if they come with a 3 pin plug fitted then they dont need a transformer , but i would of thought there would have been a 3amp fuse in the plug lol, i may well be wrong

that is the thing that was confusing me. By my (possibly incorrect) calculations they use less than 1a. So a 13a fuse seems a bit excessive.

thats what i want to do, but at the moment i'm not that bothered about dimming, plus the lights i want to use are LED.
Want to use LED as with 8m of the stuff the power usage would be ~20W compared with ~120W.

- 230v is the UK mains supply standard

Yes you will just be able to connect them like that.. the "13a plug top" refers to the shape of the plug only and will have a 3a fuse in.
