I need to disguise some new proto type mains cables under a 'sheaf'. Can anyone recommend a system that would hide things from prying eyes but still look good. It is not for a commercial product but just to make sure testing is done ‘blind’. It needs to be able to take a variety of 'variations'.

Not quite a sheath, but for hiding prototypes this cable tidy might be useful?

Or what about some of that braided sleeving, perhaps heatshrunk into place at either end?

I've used RichardH's method with some success, although to completely disguise the cable underneath I put an additional layer of maplin heatshrink on underneath the braiding.

I then marked each cable with a piece of insulation tape, then handed them over to my tester.

Now waiting to get them back after Xmas with the results...
