Help me design my walls!

Guys,

I'm building a shed/home cinema gaming room in my garden. I'm trying to decide on the wall construction method, either to go for double skin with blocks or single skin timber. Obviously blocks is going to be better, but it takes up a lot more room, costs more and takes a lot longer to build.

Here are my rough sketches of what I'm thinking of doing:-

Help me design my walls!-wall2.jpg

Anyone got any thoughts? If I do the second option I'll do a false ceiling as well. The room is going to be 3mx5m and will have a gym at one end with a plasma etc at the other. I haven't included damp proofing in the first picture, which will be permeable sheeting on the outside under the cladding or ply.

Re: Help me design my walls!

A room that size a decent builder will have the blocks walls up in a day no bother at about 150 quid inc labourer.

Thats the way I`d go without doubt

I think thats going to be the way to go, I'm doing all the building work myself, so it may take a bit longer than a day! It's actually a bit more complicated as well as I'm digging down 500mm to keep the overall height down.

How well do think each one would do at soundproofing?
