wall mounted plasma on dot and dab, can cables be passed in gap?

hi, going to mount my plasma on the wall of a new build which has dot and dab wall, after searching through the forums i've gone for some rigifix bolts to fix the mount. My original intention was to use a hole cutter to make a hole in the plasterboard and pass the cables through to a hole at the bottom. My worry is that the amoun of wires, scarts etc to pass through i'm bound to hit a problem! and was wondering whether it would be easier to chase the plasterboard out just a 10mm channel for the cables and then polyfilla it in.

is that the best way?

the scart wont fit im sure of that. You may be able to fish some down there but depends who has dabbed it and how tight back it is. You might just hit adhesive where you drill so i would chase out. Be sure to reseal where the cables exit as it is part of your insulation on externalwalls if it is external

agree on the easyfill but if there is no dabs local to the chase i would fill with adhesive first to back it up first but if the board is solid then just easyfill. If you use easyfill 45 you can sanding quicker as it dries in .....45min

I have dot & dab walls, i made two channels to keep the power separate from the HDMI, i then filled the wall with filler & then hung wallpaper on the same wall. My diy skills are very basic but using wallpaper it now looks great

Re: wall mounted plasma on dot and dab, can cables be passed in gap?

I had the same question so I gave it a go.

I cut a hole in the top large enough to get a scart plug through plus a bit of extra room, and the same at the bottom and mine fit no problem.

I've got 2 scarts, 2 hdmi, 1 VGA, 1 Component and 1 DVI fished down between the 2 holes - surprisingly easy. (oh yes, a 3 lengths of garden string to fish anything else in future)

At the end of the day, try it before making any channels in your wall. If it doesn't go well, then channel it out. What you got to loose ??
