Advice please on false wall construction

Hi,

Great forum guys I think my wallet is going to take a beating once we get going!

Anyhow I have a newbuild house and the living room is pretty crap, the fire (lpg) will be ripped out to be replaced with a false wall, this wall I hope will protrude from the existing wall by 30cm which I will continue the coving and skirting to suit and set into the wall will be a tv around 40" screen.

Looking at threads some speakers would not go amiss too.

The problem I have is where to put the rest of the gear... Sky, Wii, Xbox, MacMini?

Do you think an alcove in the false wall would be suitable with say some glass shelves for the stuff to sit on? Or would I be better off with doing something else? I am quite into the stealth minimal look.

Pictures of similar set ups would be great - this is just a start the whole room needs doing, flooring, furniture blah blah

Look forward to the replies.

Gaz
