Seen a thread recently where the guy had some mad looking pink/purple flouresent lights in his set up, I think he said he used gel sheets, what are these, can you buy them... I would look back over the thread but it's 33 pages long and I can't remember who it was..

Maplin sell various colour gell sheets for about £5 per roll. If you look in the "Lighting Gell Sheets" section of "Disco Lighting" on http://www.maplin.co.uk you can see a few.

I have been watching a series on Discovery Home and Leisure called Cutting Edge http://www.i2itelevision.com/woodworker.

In the program he used coloured plastic from standard A4 wallets to produce a diffused light. The light source was a standard strip light, and the finish product look great.

The other place to look would be professional lighting companies for film and TV, have a look at http://www.altai.co.uk or http://www.bluearan.com they seem to produce a whole range of gel sheets and rolls.

For a cheap and dirty solution try spraying them with car paint

Work ok for my dad in his pub

thanks starkiller, I've ordered a couple from bluearan now... I've fitted the light etc just waiting for the sheets now, tried it with just the white light showing and it does look very cool, only problem is the missus wants them all over the house now!!

sounds like lee 126 or 128 avalible from all good theatrical lighting suppliers,they also do a free swatch book containing samples of all the colours avaliable. 181(congo blue) is rather nice,but a little on the dark side
