Lighting Help

I am getting some work done in a loft room, this is a TV room with a home cinema setup, I want to create some ambient lighting, I don't think I can do aything on the TV wall, as its a stud wall and I am having to use a cantilever arm for the TV so it will be moved around.

Around the side and behind me however there is the eaves space which is created with a shelf on the top which overhangs a little, I was thinking of putting lighting under the overhang and ensure it concealed so you just see the glow when its on.

1 - Any ideas on lighting, don't have to do the above, its the only thing I came up with, open to ideas, but don't want to spend too much and mains powered is preferred right now.

2 - Where can I buy this kind of lighting to go underneath at a good price? LED strips seems kind of expensive, but considering I plan to hid the lighting I figure it doesn't matter what I get, but must be small so I can conceal it.

Any help mos appreciated

Ok so I say rope lights is pretty cheap, would they give off enough ambient light? Is that what people use?

Re: Lighting Help

I would look at cabinet lights. Normally they house a halogen lamp, but it is possible to buy ones with compact fluorescent or LED lamps inside.
