Varilight remote control / touch Dimmers

Varilight remote control / touch Dimmers
Could anybody who's installed one of these before offer some advice?

Picked up one yesterday in B&Q for £5 and wired it up in the socket as normal for a single bulb, but it's just flickering like mad (like a strobe) without anyone even touching it to switch it on and also wont let me turn it off or adjust it!!!

Took it back and got another, but it's doing the same thing.

The bulb in the room is an energy saving one if that's the problem... or is it coincidence that both dimmer switches are knacked?

Many thanks in advance!

Nice one B & Q. What colour are they?

These dimmers don't work with energy efficient bulbs, pity, great deal.

Cheers

Cheers for that - will try it with regular bulbs later

They had two colours in their clearance bins (electrical dept); A gunmetal colour (Nickel?) and white, both were £5. I think the regular price instore is £32 & £20 respectively, so a steal if you can find them. 12 month guarantee too.

Just need to find a remote for the blighter now... if I can get it working!

Re: Varilight remote control / touch Dimmers

That's no quite true Dimmable low enery buld do exist now. A quick google should show them up. I know that screwfix and some other diy outlets stock them now. The price difference from normal ones has come down quite significantly in recent times.

Re: Varilight remote control / touch Dimmers
