Hi, I have removed the fire but I am now left with a hole that I wish to cover! but not permanently incase I decide to sell etc. so what's the cheapest way to hide the hole? thought about getting a fire surround, but I would still need to cover the hole up!

any ideas ;-)

I'd just cut a board to sit flush in the hole (maybe have some timber in the hole to screw the board to) & plaster over it. Simples

Ive a chimney breast that contains no fire at all just a huge 2x3 mt hole, Im planning on mounting my TV on the Chimney beast and drilling into the flue to drop cables down into the fireplace where I will box it out using plasterboard n get it re-skimmed, My TV stand with my AV hardware on will go into the fireplace with the front speakers on the opposite side of the breast.

Can you not put all your AV stuff into the hole? ie box it out and use it as a shelf?

I would asure myself that the enclosure for the av hardware is waterproof. Water through the flue does happen...

Cheers mate, didnt realise that, although it would be all sealed but I'll make sure theres no danger from any moisture down the flue

Does anyone know what the construction in front of the flue is? I too have removed my fireplace and now have a projector mounted above. I want to drill through and run the cables down the flue, is this possible?

Yeah Im the same, Ive heard the flue is quite small but I also want to drill through the brickwork n drop the cables down.

Failing that IF the brick work is solid then it might be worth channelling the cables 'into' the brick work n then plastering over it.

I don't really want to do that, but last resorts will have to be!
