Best paint for cinema wall

Hi all,

Had my cinema room about 5 years now. Panasonic AE500 projects onto a wall painted in what was Dulux Ice Storm 6...think it is Clouded Slate 3 now?

Want to do a repaint tomorrow.

Is this still a decent paint to paint the projection wall in? Just want to be able to go out and buy a tin and paint it.

Don't want to be buying paints from Ireland and mixing etc.

Any suggestions?

Matt white is usually the best colour unless the room has light colour decor or some ambient light. Grey helps subdue cross reflections and improve apparent black levels.

Re: Best paint for cinema wall

Grey would probably be your best bet then

Can you take a sample of the old colour down so you can pick something that is close to it? Or you could try the search here because I'm sure I saw this discussed some time back but I can't remember the new name for the colour that was its closest replacement.

Re: Best paint for cinema wall

Hi, just saw your post, hope its not too late to help you out. I used to work in Focus and made a few tins of paint per day with the dulux machine (although I'm far from an expert on paint).

Old colours should still be on the system for this very reason, the person mixing the paint should have no trouble mixing it for you if you give them the old colour name, and they should also be able to tell you the new name as well.

Hope this is helpfull
