Sony Bravia KDL40V4000 at JL £499

As above, would people recommend this TV over th 37LG6000 Scarlet?

I'm looking at getting one of these, what would people say. Same price.

Re: Sony Bravia KDL40V4000 at JL £499

Just ordered this, earliest delivery is Friday January 2nd. Current stock is "more than ten". Of course that could be a very high number, but I doubt it. Apparantly the V4000's are at the end of the line and they're being pushed out. Or at least that's what RS told me. Hopefully this TV will be as good as I expect it. I'm used to a 3 year old 27" Lexsor with a 16ms rt and an 800:1 contrast ratio so i'm sure i'll enjoy the upgrade xD

Re: Sony Bravia KDL40V4000 at JL £499

Literally just rang up to order one, the guy said they were out of stock and I asked if they would be getting anymore in. He checked and they had some stock in the warehouse so he said he would match the website deal, took my order details etc and its being delivered on the 7th.

Cribbs Causeway in Bristol was the branch I rang, its out of their delivery range so they are delivering by courier instead, very helpful guy on the phone.

Re: Sony Bravia KDL40V4000 at JL £499

Hey guys,

Am I missing something here? It does indeed say 'in stock' but the price says £599, not the £499 the thread states. Any ideas? Have JL bumped the price up or am I missing a trick, because for £499 I have my credit card at the ready!!

Cheers,
Dan

Re: Sony Bravia KDL40V4000 at JL £499

Just spoke to John Lewis and they said the price of £499 displayed on the website was incorrect and they stopped all those orders so not sure if anyone is/has got one for this price

Asked if they would honour the price and couldn't get them too

Re: Sony Bravia KDL40V4000 at JL £499

I just bought the Sony KDL40V4000 for £489.99 form Currys. I took a print out of the Richer Sounds ad for £499.99 and they 'price matched' it plus got 10% for the difference off as well. Didn't even bother to check if it was in stock at RS(thank god as it wasn't).
Well chuffed.

That's not with 10% difference that's £10 off

Does John Lewis price match? I fancy the 5 year warranty they were offering

Re: Sony Bravia KDL40V4000 at JL £499

I received my receipt today from John Lewis, £599 - £100 allowance = £499 total charged, mines coming on the 7th Jan to.

I also tried the price match thing with Currys but was told they only price match within a 12 mile radius and not internet prices, must be different depending on which branch you go to.

Hey townfan,

I also purchased this TV at JL Oxford Street. Mine is arriving 3rd Jan.
I had problems, like most, trying to purchase from the JL website when the price was £499, that's why I went down to the Oxford Street store.
However, I was told they don't price match online, even their own site!
I purchased the TV for £599 last Saturday.

The next day, I called up the store, to say Richer Sounds, Holborn had it for £499, however they have now run out of stock. Go figure at that price! They said they'd look into my 'Never Knowingly Undersold' claim and call me back in the following few days.

I'm hoping there won't be any problems and they refund me £100. But if it comes down to it, is it possible we could swap details and I get a copy of your receipt, to at least prove, as a company as a whole, that JL did sell the TV at £499? Of course, blank out your payment details and address, your help would be much appreciated. I really hope it doesn't come down to that.

Hello all,

KDL0V4000 @ £494 or Panasonic 42PX80B @ £499?

At present I'm thinking of the panasonic, any thoughts?

Thanks!

Does anyone know how this sony performs compared to the Toshiba 32CV505DB (note not the AV). As the specs etc seem very similar

[oops thought this was for the 32V4000 - sorry]
