In case anyone else (like me) was waiting for a sub £100 FreeSat HD box before taking the plunge ..... I have just purchased a Goodmans GFSAT200HD Freesat HD box from Empire Direct for £49.99 + delivery (£5.99).

Well Empire Direct have been acting like real weasals over my order. Before ordering on-line, I checked with my local branch for stock and they said they had them. This was confirmed also when ordering on line - so I placed the order. As this was done on Christmas Eve I wasn't too fussed about being able to collect it straight-away. Nevertheless I went in on Boxing day to be told they had none is stock, but "175 were on their way"

Today I rang the online support to find out the status to be told that it was discontinued and could no longer be supplied. He said Derby had one but it was "a display one and obviously didn't want to sell it!" They said they had no alternatives, but when I suggested they send me a Bush or a Humax, they said they were higher quality and "not in the same price bracket"

I suggested that since they were discontinued why would Derby "want to keep their display?" - his response - "ask them!"

I doubt I will be getting one
