I threw me too.

I assumed I'd be able to do a compare and contrast online - nope; Panasonics site makes no mention of it.

Price-wise it's comparable to the TH-42PZ80B.

Is it a model designation specifically produced for certain retail outlets?

It looks virtually identical to the 81B.

Clearly it won't have Freesat and the only difference on the stickers was the lack of intelligent frame creation.

Can anyone shed any light?

TIA.

Re: Panasonic TH-42PZ82B £799 Comet

Comet's specs say that it doesn't support HDCP Don't believe it for one minute.

I wonder if it supports 1080p24 and refreshes correctly at a multiple of 23.976Hz?

Good price.

Re: Panasonic TH-42PZ82B £799 Comet

FWIW the salesperson I spoke to said it was exactly the same as the 81B and 85B, but in a different surround, specific to Comet. I did find the 85B as well for £899 (in Currys IIRC) and that would have been where I had spent my money, but I ended up getting a Toshiba 46XF355DB instead for £799 in Comet.

Re: Panasonic TH-42PZ82B £799 Comet

I have one of these and I'm pretty sure it's just a rebadged 42PZ80B. Possibly the only difference is that the lower bezel is black. Whereas on most of the 80Bs I've seen it's silver.
This was actually the reason I ended up getting it - the good price and I didn't like the two tone effect on the 80Bs I'd seen.

Mac.

Re: Panasonic TH-42PZ82B £799 Comet

I have this TV the difference is it has a black bottom instead of silver it also has 100hz double scan. Its an exclusive to the comet group. Its a fantastic Tv. I went from a 1080p 42" X3030 toshiba and the difference is amazing. The sticker around the surround of the Tv claims 24fps, I havent noticed any judder at all in either Blu-ray or Hd dvd films.

Re: Panasonic TH-42PZ82B £799 Comet

It is the same spec as the pz80 except it is exclusive to Comet and Laskys and has a black surround. Has all of the same features including being 1080p.

Next time you are in the shop ask him/her to show you the Freesat HD channels via the built in tuner (like the PZ81B) or how to select IFC (like the PZ85B). Methinks they'll struggle! As others have said, this is a rebadged PZ80B. It is neither an 81 nor an 85, both have different features.

It is however a top plasma. Isn't there an earlier post saying John Lewis are doing it for £699 (with their 5-year gntee)?

Re: Panasonic TH-42PZ82B £799 Comet

Comet are crafty beggars - this is a re-badged PZ80. Means they don't have to price match. Has been discussed previously in the plasma section
