Hello I am new here

Well I need some advice,
Soon I am getting these lights from IKEA for my TV stand and I am also getting this from Maplin so I can remotely turn them on and off.

Now I am also thinking of getting the harmony one remote and the question is will I be able to control these remote controlled sockets (from maplin) with the Harmony one?

Help would be appreciated

Welcome to the forums
Unfortnately the Harmony One wont control those switches as they are RF (Radio Frequency) and the Harmony One is IR (infra red).

Do you know where I can get switches that have IR signals? so it works with the harmony one

You need to bear in mind that IR generally needs line of sight so if the socket is out of sight then IR could struggle (not always the case).

Wow that would be great because if you go on the website it actually shows that the IR receiver is very small and can be placed near the TV or something, So the sockets wont be visible! thanks alot!
Just to make sure as far as you are aware lights should Definitely with the Harmony one now?
Hopefully it wont be too hard setting them up with the Harmony one

The Harmony One is just a universal IR remote and the Standby Saver has learning feature so there's no reason why they wont work fine together, just allocate a button on the Harmony then teach the Standby Saver..it's all in the intructions of the Standby Saver

Now all I need to do is buy all of that stuff.
Going to Argos tomorrow, I am brobably going to wait until I can find the harmony one cheap for around £70.
I also found a PS3 IR adaptor so now everything should work fine.

Cool, I'd be interested to hear how you get on with the PS3 IR adaptor..it's something I'll need to consider when my room is done and I want to ditch the PS3 remote for my Harmony One (which I haven't used yet)

Here is a link for the IR adaptor...
... well not only an adaptor but a cheap remote too
If you look at the reviews on the page it there are many people that managed to make the harmony one work with the adaptor, aparently there is an option already set for the IR adaptor on the harmony one, so it should be easy to set up!

Did you get an Ecosaver?
I got one from Maplin today which I planned on using to run LEDs on and off but it seems that even though I expected it to cut off power to prevent things from sitting in standby, it still has power even when off so my LEDs stay on regardless.
Maybe hold off for now? I'm gonna look at the power mid option and have an RF plug socket with my LEDs plugged in.

I am sorry I cant help you there because I havent got it yet.
I am going to wait untill I move to the new house untill I start buying things.
You if you cant get it to work you can always go back to maplins and exchange for another one.
