kitchen downlights

hi all at present i have LV 10 x GU10 with tilt non fire rated. in brushed steel in my kitchen quite a bigish kitchen 25' x 9' it narrows to about 6' in the utilty area. was thinking of getting white ones here as the ceiling is white already for uniformity or you think sliver would look better its a modern kitchen. also i have a draught coming from the tilt downlights always been cold in kitchen and was hoping these firerated ones would help.

any opinions please

Fire-rated will definately help to prevent the draughts although they will not eliminate them completely. The aluminium coated lamp will also help as this reflects the radiant eat from the lamp into the room rather than allowing it to pass back through the back of the lamp into the ceiling void. Just make sure the existing cutout is the same or smaller compared the the cutout for the new lamp.

what about white or chrome downlighters, i thought white as they wont stand out as much as the chrome?

Can't you buy a couple of standard surrounds from your local electrical supplier and try them? - They're only a couple of quid each, and they might even give you them on sale or return, and may do your rife rated units competitively too.
