Is there a wireless AV receiver?

Hey guys, not going to bore you all with the usual "I'm new to all this blaa blaa". I will keep it short and sweet.

Is there such a thing as a wireless AV receiver?

The reason I ask is that I am in the planning stage of my project and I am looking at ways of controlling my SKY HD box from another room (if the box is stored under the stairs with the rest of my home network equipment).

Would liek to know if anyone ahs any suggestions before I start tracking my walls.

Re: Is there such a peice of equipment

hi, and welcome!

You could easily do this. all you need is an IR repeater this will allow you to control via a remote and the IR repeater will control the sky HD box (and any other equipment) inside the cupboard

as far as "wireless av receivers" you can get wireless HDMI but its not cheap Belkin are releasing one named firefly

Re: Is there such a peice of equipment

Hi Ian

Thanks for this, yeah found it hard to find HDMA wireless equpment, all the AV receivers are old generation it seems. I think however no matter how expensive it is I will have to bite the bullit and pay for it as I don't fancy tracking all my walls.

I will look into this firefly

Again thanks for the input

Edd

Re: Is there such a peice of equipment

If you don't need HD sent around the house there are other lower res and way cheaper A/V senders around, Google 'digisender'.

You could also send A/V around on Cat5 cables if you have any installed, if not, this is a lot easier than running A/V cables.
Google 'video balun'.

What are you trying to "receive" ???? IS it just control you want? or Picture and sound as well?

At what quality and what budget?

Re: Is there a wireless AV receiver?

Shouldn't be too hard to find one; in Australia they're pretty TV transmitters for PayTV such as Foxtel are pretty common, and include the I/R transmitters/senders as standard. Here they run on 2.4Ghz and 5.8Ghz bands, so I'm pretty sure it should be the same in Ireland and Great Britain.
