I've not got a clue about home automation, can you help?

i'm looking to be able to control my tv, surround sound, ps3, lights and dimmers. i've not got a clue where to start or what to get, i would ideally like one controller for all these items!
any help would be great!

thanks

Then you will need to know the specs of the equipment.

You'd need to know the specs and get some idea as to what you want to use as the controller. Perhaps something like mControl running through Windows Media Centre could be the overall option for you, or you could look to use iPhone home automation solutions and tie them in with some of the very cool iPhone remote control options.
