Duralite Rope Lights Sold By TLC-Direct - Why So Cheap?

Are the Duralite Rope Lights made up of LED's? I can't quite understand why they are so cheap (£1.80/m) compared to other rope lights which are in the £60/m bracket...

Also, any idea what their life is expected?

No, these use bulbs rather than LEDs.

How about this Illuminated Flex? Again, substantially cheaper from other retailers?

At 230V, these must use Bulbs also. LED's will be 12 or 24V.

Re: Duralite Rope Lights Sold By TLC-Direct - Why So Cheap?

Ebay has some LED alternatives to rope light that are reasonably priced:

5M White LED light strip - £53.49

Or colour changing LED light strip with controller - £102.99 (£58.49 without controller) (as used here)

Or you can get 1.2 Meter White strips for £12.49

Thank you for confirming that. Could you give me some advice on where I can purchase some rope LED's lights? I require around 6 meters.

Do you own a strip of these? no problems?

also it would be possible to hook this up so i can use a light switch as long as it was connected to a transformer link this or this wouldn't it? rather with a normal plug transformer?

I own the colour changing LED's. Have had no problems at all, they are very bright!

I'm not sure about the current output of those transformers, on the ebay listing it states current/m = 0.4A for the LED's

This would be 0.4 x 12 = 4.8W per meter, or 24W for 5 Meters. The Minumum Power rating on the first transformer is 35W which is too high (not sure if it would cause any damage?), and for the second transformer the maximum is 9W, which is too low (if using all 5 meters).
