Cheap electric curtain tracks?

I'm looking for a cheap way to remotely open and close curtains.

I was tempted by this Link

But because it's not IR I wouldn't be able to control it with a Logitech Harmony remote.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Cheap electric curtain tracks?

Personally and IMO, the words 'Cheap Automatic Curtains' would send me running to the hills.

Cheap ones never really work and even some of the better ones are anything but silent!

At least his ebay site says that he offer a full credit returns policy so it might be interesting to try these out.

Re: Cheap electric curtain tracks?

Plus the cheap ones do not have enough torque to move a heavy fabric. If you want to motorise velvet curtains or your curtain track is long, then you will need to look at the motor's torque.

Hi Tommy Angelo

I have opened a similar thread about remote electric curtains

Did you purchase the Ebay ones in the end and if so how did you get on?

Thanks

Re: Cheap electric curtain tracks?

Thanks Tommy

Thats the conclusion I am coming to-get a professionally fitted metal curtain rail installed with a pulley system on either side of the bay.

I may then look at adding the Ebay motor system to each side at a later date

Cheers

Re: Cheap electric curtain tracks?

Electric curtains have been increasingly popular since "silent gliss" released their basic range that enables customer to fit it themselves for less than £400 (UK price). Make sure you buy the one with the timer option for automatic closure for when your on holiday,

Here are a couple of websites that will help you with electric curtains.

Hope this helps

Re: Cheap electric curtain tracks?

Thanks Rose 10

In fact I have got a metal pulley system now installed in the bay window and just waiting for the new curtains.

I am considering the Ebay motor system at a later stage

Thanks for the advice
