suggestions please

Hi

I,m doing a self build extension. I have a family room / kitchen which is approx 8.5 x 6m. Does anyone have any suggestions for some lighting for this area.
I was thinking of just some standard gu10 halogens however as i have the option to do what i want (to a budget of say 500) i was looking for some help.

Thanks for taking to the time .

If you're looking for a way to control the lights then have a look at Rako stuff. very easy to install and works very well.

Have a look at the link below for some inspiration. It shows some rooms with different types of lighting and lists what was used. Its is obviously at the high end but it shows you what can be achieved with some planning.

As a rule of thumb its best to have light from 3 different directions, so think roof lights (your GU10's), wall lights then side/table lamps for example.

Yes nice ideas on that site. Probably getting ahead of myself, as my foundations are going a week on monday. Founds are just a wee bit boring however essential.
