Home security motion detection

Hi, I don't know where to look for this info but I was looking at installing a motion detection sensor/trip beam of some sort to trigger a plug which would turn on a radio/table lamp for instance or multiple devices, for a given time limit maybe?

I'm 99% sure it can be done cheaply but it's finding a working solution that's hard to find on the net, any ideas very welcome. Thanks

Re: Home security motion detection

You could use a MS13 motion detector, this sends an rf signal to a TM13 then converts it to an x10 signal turning on and off however many lights aplliances etc you require, or a pair of wired photocells providing an IR beam, when this is tripped it could pulse a powerflash module via a timer relay (X10 again) turn on lights etc,
