LED and Rako control

Hi,

I bought some small blue LEDs that are powered by a 12v mains adapter, I would like to make these part of a mood scene using the Rako controls.

They are not dimmable, just looking for on and off, does anyone know if Rako can control this and what unit is required.

Thanks in advance.

Re: LED and Rako control

Rako do a straight 800w switch module that is either On or Off.

I am going to use it to turn the none ecential TV kit off as I leave the room.

Re: LED and Rako control

Use the Rako RDS800C. We use it al the time on LEDs. There is a small delay switching on and off but this can be adjusted from the Rako software. If you do not have the software, do not worry, the delay is almost negligible.

We have managed to dim an LED ropelight with an RDL250C. You have to open the RDL250C and cut a resistor on the board. Contact Rako to do this. Most LEDs though are not dimmable.

vex,

I would suggest not to use the RSD800C for your application. The 800c is only for lighting. I would use the RACUB and after that a bigger relay or conductor to switch on and off the load

Re: LED and Rako control

True, but the loading and in-rush / startup current isnt going to be that great.

Talking the Rako guys direct they suggested the 800. I'll talk to them more when I see them next week.

Re: LED and Rako control

Thanks Charris, so if I use this unit would I put it prior to the main plug for the LEDs or after the LED mains plug?

Re: LED and Rako control

The Rako RDS800C needs 230V for power. It has to be installed before the transformer.

Re: LED and Rako control

Just to clarify Charris's correct post.

After the plug socket for the LEDs but before its transformer.

Re: LED and Rako control

Thanks ALL - I think I get it, there is no seperate transformer, the mains plug has this built in.

So essentially like this...

Mains>>Rako>>LED Plug/Transformer

Thanks again, I'll get on ordering....

Re: LED and Rako control

you can use a standard dimmer if you edit the curve to be a switch useful with RAK4s (some LEDs use DMX or other systems) Rako have a solution for prtty much everything which is why they are so well loved...

Re: LED and Rako control

Thanks Hornydragon, I guess you need the software to edit the curve of a dimmer right?
