Lutron Grafik Eye + LED lighting

Hi @. I have a Lutron 3104 and I'm thinking of running some of these LED lights down the sides of the room. These LEDs come with a transformer & regular 240v mains plugs. Does anyone know whether I can just discard the mains plug & hook these up to my Lutron on a single non-dimming zone for on/off participation in scene presets? Cheers.

Only thing to watch out for is the minimum load required on the Lutron. I think it is 25W but I am not 100% sure.

This might not apply to switched channels anyway but I would recommend double checking.

Rats, you're right. I just checked and the minimum load is 40w for the CE model. Wonder if I can put some kind of resistor in there to make up the difference?

If you don't meet the minimum load requirements, you need this syntetic load.
Even for switched channels.

Thanks for the link mate. Have to say, Lutron are having a laugh with their prices on items like this. I'm guessing this is nothing more than a fancy looking relay. I'm going to see if my electrician can come up with something at a fraction of the price .

Its just a basic load that connects in parallel with the led's.
The problem you will have, is if you ever have to get a Lutron engineer out.
You invalidate your warranty. It's the same snag as using cat5 instead of recommended lutron cable.
Lutron gear is very reliable though mate, but at the end of the day, it's your call.

Shockabuku - you first need to check the total wattage of your LED lamps, if the total wattage is less than 40watts the you may need the Lutron Synthetic Load

i have found that if you have a few 8watt GU10 or MR16 type lamps you may well be ok

if you have 0.7watt chip LED lights, you will then need the Lutron Synthetic . all that will happen is the lights will keep flashing on and off

Cheers fellas. I'll be struggling to reach a 10w load, so something is definitely required, just not sure I can bring myself to spend that much.
