Crabtree touch/Remote Dimmer Switch

Hi i bought one of these a few weeks ago to replace the dimmer switch in my bedroom . I wired it up exactly as the instructions said but it didnt work properly when i went to turn the light on the light went to half brightness and that was it jus stayed that way could turn it of or on again . i checked the wiring and it was correct and still no joy , so then tried wiring differnt ways to the intructions and still wouldnt work so i took it back thinking it was faulty but the the new was the same . As i said i previously had a dimmer swith which i have refited and that works fine im now thinking of getting one of the lurton switches but i worried i'll have the same problem

Re: Crabtree touch/Remote Dimmer Switch

What kind of lighting are you dimming?

I usually use the iQ dimmers from here

Re: Crabtree touch/Remote Dimmer Switch

That's pretty odd then! I don't have any real answer. Have you tried swapping the live and switched live connections over?

Re: Crabtree touch/Remote Dimmer Switch

Hi

Those wires aren't live and neutral, they are live and switched live. The black (or blue) wire should be sleeved with red (or brown) sleeving.

Try swapping those two wires round and see what happens.

Re: Crabtree touch/Remote Dimmer Switch

Some dimmers have a minimum load - what wattage lamps do you have installed in your fitting?

Re: Crabtree touch/Remote Dimmer Switch

I'm at a loss to be honest. Perhaps you had two faulty units from the same batch?

Do you still have one of the units? Could you try it somewhere else in your house?
