Multiroom AV Setups

Hi, I am very interested in complete house AV setups but not sure where things are at the moemnt.

Say i wanted some form of music/video control in each room, maybe a touch screen on the wall. Obviosuly this would all need to orginate somewhere and that wouldnt be a PC - would it be something like a hard disc based media server, using a wireless network to interface with the control points?

How do media servers store music? CD juke boxes, MP3s or is it some form of lossless file?

I suppose the server wouild need to be connected to the AMP, and you would wire this the old fashioned way (speaker cable, video cables) to each room.

Its all a complete guess but if anyone can give me some info, or products that sound like they might be good please let me know!

Thanks

Re: Multiroom AV Setups

You've got quite a few options and as usual money will, I assume, play a big part. You can go down the route of wireless systems if budget is the main driver through to Crestron systems which will do your AV distribution and a lot more besides.

I'm biased though, I'm a Crestron dealer and user!

You could try hiddenwires for a good source of info.

Thanks

Dave

The servers work the same way as a PC stores your files, from there the outputs are then connected to the various inputs of the Home Automation system you've installed, there are a number of ways you can add a server to a number of system but which types you go for determines how it's wired and controlled
