Need help with week homeseer CM12U signal

Hello.
Can anyone shed any light on a problem i'm having with my X10 CM12U. I have Homeseer. When I send an X10 (homeseer) signal from my PC via the CM12U, the signals seem to be very week in that it switches some sockets (around the house), some seem hit and miss, and some don't work at all. Some have worked and now don't. It is like the signal is only just strong enough that it just about reaches some sockets but falls short of the mark on others.
I have tried connecting by usb and serial port using a usb/serial port converter but this doesn't make any difference
Have you any idea what might cause this problem or can you recommend anything i can do to test or remedy the problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Chris

Talking Re: Need help with week homeseer CM12U signal

Hi I had the same problem for a long time, in the end I moved the unit to another PC which is closer to the main distribution board.

It has worked flawlessly ever since.

Re: Need help with week homeseer CM12U signal

Yep had the same problem here with two of my sockets, used a test meter http://www.letsautomate.com/10948.cfm? (borrowed one ) and found the signal was not getting through.

In the end I got a 15m serial extension cable and plugged my CM12U into another socket in another room......been working fine for 4 years now

Re: Need help with week homeseer CM12U signal

I tried putting it nearer the distribution board via an extension lead but with little success.
i think it's to do with different loops/circuits around the house, as if i plug the CM12U in one socket, the the sockets on that side of the house work fine but not so good down the other side. If I plug the CM12U in on the other side I get the opposite problem. The signal seems too weak to cross to other loops. Does that make sense? Do you know how to solve this problem?

If I send a signal using a IR7243 Infra-Red -> X10 Converter or a TM13U it seems to be fine. The signal must be stronger using these than when using the CM12U.

Cheers again,

Chris
