Thanks: Gave 6, Got 0 | Is there a way to get HD whole House AV?
Hi,
I want to try and achieve the following, however is there a system available which can carry a HD signal to each HD ready screen? Otherwise my thinking is what is the point in having a HD screen or HD broadcasting...? I have been thinking about an Opus Octopus system or System line but I don't think these do HD or are upgradeable to HD??
I want a system (ideally) that can:
Have audio in all rooms in the house, (4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, Lounge, cinema room, kitchen, cloakroom, dining room) and Video in Lounge, Cinema Kitchen, 2 bedrooms (screens for this at a later date). The system should have at least 2 control panels and 2 remote controls and the ability to control each room individually. Ideally 2 rooms to have 5.1 Surround sound.
Is this achievable, and I would be open to any system, which ideally should by very future proof.
The system must be able to transmit HD signals to HD ready screens......
Thanks in advance.

How about Pluto Home, with a BlissAV software addition like we had running at the CEDIA trade expo this week.
CD & DVD lossless ripping, IP distribution to play out boxes, Playout boxes programmed with naitive resilution (spelling) of your HD screen for Pixel to Pixel matching. Controlable from your PDA or Smartphone.
Oh, a bit of lighting control, home automation and music / dvds and lighting prefferances can follow you through the home as you move about using bluetooth detection of your phone or pda.
Oh and its Lynux based so now PC / Windows issues.
Cost? between £6 and £10K depending on spec.

Thanks: Gave 6, Got 0 | Thanks - More Questions.
Thanks All,
Vex - you've totally lost me!
Is it fair to say that we are in the midst of impending change in the multi room AV scene due to HD? If so, should I wait a while to see which system will be able to support HD without the need for adaptors etc (which experience years ago in the car audio arena, led to loss of sound quality and interference)?
In the meantime, perhaps I should just go ahead with the wiring side of things so that when such a system becomes available I can just plug it in? Or could I at least do the audio side of it now?
Ay ideas on the wiring side of things to enable later plug in of HD ready system without new cabling?
Thanks again. John.

Guys
Careful here, component matrix's will only allow non HDCP programs to be viewed over component.
If SKY use the HDCP protection which they may well have to then you would see an automatic drop in resolution on your HD screen with an anolog HD connection over component.
I had a discussion with Gefen at Cedia last week and HDCP copy protection is apparently in use in the states now.
Kramer are bringing out a variety of HD matrix's in September and Gefen have one thats imminent, we are already using succesfully their HD over cat5 boxes.
