How to keep AV equipment cool...?

Hi guys...I am relatively new to the AV game and wondered if anyone had any advice to keep my AV equipment at a cool temperature as its all mounted in an enclosed cabinet.

With the recent addition of a Sky HD box inside the cabinet the ambient temperature has really ramped up and is concerning me a little.

Therefore any ideas of what path to take (such as water cooling or external fans etc.) and how to go about installing would be gratefully recieved...?

Ok, water-cooling seems a little excessive so does anyone have any knowledge how to go about wiring up a fan to ventilate the cabinet...?

I have seen some fans in Maplin's but I have no idea how to power it...?

If anyone is interested I found some 'notebook coolers' that will sit underneath any av seperate and channel cool air over the surface.

Keep it simple.

If possible drill holes out of sight at of the top of the cabinate to let the hot air out and holes at the bottom to let cool air in. I would suggest at least 30mm diameter

Several simple ways, if the kits in a rack, use a roof or rack mounted fan unit you can use a simple Honeywell control reverse wired so it kicks in when heat reaches a certain temperature stick your sky boxes quite close to the fan units works like a dream.

Hi, I currently sell neon product lights. After many people have asked for small and quiet cooling products i am considering manufacturing these and selling them on a small basis. The kits i am designing would be low cost, simple to use and setup, but very good value. I would probably be selling them for about £15 up depending on what you require. I currently use a very simple setup on my AV amp that use to get very hot, espcially if on loud, it currently runs very cool. I have recently contacted the mods of this forum to see if they would be interested in me advertising my products on here, and should no weather I can etc within a month. Watch this space

All very good, assuming that you AV equipment has a spare USB port for powering this unit. With a HTPC maybe

We've put a 125mm 'cold' air duct into our media hub along with a 125mm extraction pipe linked into the central extraction system in our new house. Hopefully this will generate a constant movement of air and pull the hot air away?
